Characteristics

One of the allowed water disinfectants that can be used in both aquaculture and organic production systems is Sodium Percarbonate (SPC). SPC is a dry granulated form of hydrogen peroxide (H202), which is a crystalline adduct of H202 with sodium carbonate. SPC breaks down into water into Na +, CO2, and H2O2. It is also known as the “emergency oxygen powder.” The product has documented deworming effects, controls unwanted algae growth, has disinfecting properties, and releases oxygen during decomposition. Being a granulated powder, it can be evenly distributed in a pond or raceway by using a hand shovel. The added powder can be visually checked as it rushes to the bottom of the tank or raceway when added to the water, helping to guide and ensure a safer, more uniform and more effective distribution.
Immediately after adding SPC to the water, the hydrogen peroxide reacts with the organic matter and bacteria in the sediment. During the enzymatic decomposition of H2O2, oxygen is formed, (they look like microbubbles emerging from the bottom), this process helps to release organic matter and waste from the bottom, which is another apparent and beneficial property of this product. The water quality deteriorates momentarily as a result of this and some decomposition products (flocculated material, particulate organic matter) may accumulate on the surface after the water treatment procedure.

Applications

It is used to quickly add oxygen to the water, it can be used in fresh and salt water, it eliminates parasites.
Larvae laboratory: from 2-3 ppm at night, it is important to emphasize that the treatments are carried out from the Mysis stage.
Shrimp farms: the dosage is 10 -15 kg / ha.
As an algicide a concentration of 2.5 ppm is recommended.

Storage

This product can be stored in a cool and dry place, protected from direct sunlight, away from any type of contamination, store on pallets, keep the product in the original packaging and sealed at room temperature.
