Features

Sodium thiosulfate, formerly called sodium hyposulfite, is a crystalline inorganic compound most commonly found in the form of Na2S2O3 · 5H2O pentahydrate. Its crystalline structure is of the monoclinic type.
The thiosulfate anion appears in a tetrahedral form, in which the replacement of an oxygen atom by another of sulfur occurs. The distance between the sulfur atoms (S-S) indicates that there is a single bond between them, which implies a negative charge in the interactions with oxygen (S-O) since they have a double bond.

Applications

For neutralization of chlorine solutions: The amount of Sodium Thiosulfate required may vary depending on the concentration of the chlorine in the water and whether the chlorine is exposed to recirculation and / or aeration of the water.
An approximate range of 2 to 7 parts of Sodium Thiosulfate is suggested to neutralize 1 part of chlorine.
It is necessary to emphasize that an excess of this chemical can bring deformities in nauplii and like in other organisms, that is why we recommend analyzing the amount of chlorine present before neutralization.

Storage

It can be stored for 24 months from its date of manufacture at a temperature below 25C.
